Press Love from "Click Roll Boom"!

“The first beat drops with “Lightning Strikes,” an inaugural effort that ties together disparate scenes and statements from several decades gone by into one intoxicating cocktail of cool. The only thing that’s missing out of the gate is that ill-advised record deal brokered in a men’s room stall. “

"Lightning Strikes" First Review is In!

With a sound soaked in both Mod and Manchester while clutching to airs of the Boston Rawk scene (Think an amalgamation of The Chelsea Curve and Shiverlane), The Northern Line comes screaming out of the gates with an authenticity that’s got major swag and just oozes cool.”

We are excited for you all to hear our first single, “Lightning Strikes,” and equally excited to hear some of the great responses so far…

”SIngles! The Northern Line, “Lightning Strikes”

Meet The Northern Line — Boston’s newest British indie supergroup (5 of 5)

Name: Bilvox
Instrument: Vocals and Guitars, innit?
Favorite Band: U2 taught me music, love those gents always. Listening to a lot of Pastel, Afflecks Palace, Kasabian.
Favorite Song: This is tough! There are so many perfect songs that haunt me - I can’t choose. The other night at the Johnny Marr show, I said, “How Soon is Now?” is a perfect song!
Reason For Playing Music: Like The Velvet Underground sing, “My life was saved by rock n’ roll”. It helps set fire to all that is inside. I just want to get lost in the colors and the sound.
Reason To Get Out of Bed in the Morning: I could say coffee first, and all that’s unfinished second.

Meet The Northern Line — Boston’s newest British indie supergroup (4 of 5)

Name: Mike Ackley
Instrument: Keys
Favorite Band: So many… it changes but growing up it was New Order
Favorite Song:  Again, so much amazing music and this changes weekly.  I was just listening to Alison by Elvis Costello, so let's go with that for today.
Reason For Playing Music: Because I’m from Manchester.
Reason To Get Out of Bed in the Morning: Go for a run. Walk the dogs.

Meet The Northern Line — Boston’s newest British indie supergroup [2 of 5]

Name: McG
Instrument: Drums
Favorite Band: Blur, but ask me again in 10 minutes and you'll get a different answer.
Favorite Song: 505 - Arctic Monkeys, see above.
Reason For Playing Music: I play to lose myself in the moment, immersed in sound, and connected to the band and the audience.
Reason To Get Out of Bed in the Morning: There’s still so much to do!

Kicking it off...

We had a great time kicking off our existence properly with a show at Union Tavern in Somerville MA.
With our 40-Min Set we were able to showcase the songs we have been writing and working on this last year as well as preview our single coming out in Oct 2024 - “When the Lightning Strikes”. It was great to meet so many folks and loved seeing people dance and sing along with us. Especially our closing song, a cover of Blur’s hit “Park Life”. Kudos to our own Mike for holding down a killer narration part.

We added some killer shots to the gallery taken at the gig by the man with the golden eye Ken Rothman.

We have some Porchfests lined up next with Melrose Porchfest on Sept 21st.

8 Allen Place in Melrose.

We’re on at 3pm

Fun for the whole family! Come out and hang with us!

Here we come!

The Northern Line are here!
We have been writing, recording, rehearsing, and getting this group together and ready for you all. We came together, bonding over our love of music, sounds, and ideas originally hailing from multiple points and bands from the UK. Some of us are seasoned musicians from the local Boston and New England scene, and some are joining us from other coasts, but we have come together to bring our loves and music together to synthesize something fun and new for you.
As we prepare for lift-off, we can't contain our excitement for the upcoming shows, single and video releases, and all sorts of good stuff coming our way. Stay tuned for further details!
